More Updates

Here's some recipes I've tried:

Cheesy Spinach Lasagna

California Zucchini Bake (although, I changed that one up quite a bit, the biggest difference being that I used Tofu instead of Zucchinis)

Btw, these are the meatless triangle things I listed previously, too (called Cheesy Black Bean Quesadilla Triangles)

I'm going to cross off #75 (Recycle all my batteries instead of throwing them away), because we have replaced all our AA and AAA batteries in the house with rechargable ones.

An update on 83 (Back up my computer at least once a year): Since buying the Drobo, this isn't as important, as there's nothing to back up! Everything I WOULD have backed up is now on the Drobo. This doesn't mean I'm completely protected... if my house were to catch on fire, or if someone came in and stole the drobo, I guess I'd be screwed, but I'm as protected as I intended to be when writing #83 - in fact MORESO. So, I'm considering this one done, though I won't cross it off until the end in case for some reason I run out of room on the drobo before 2010 (highly unlikely).

I added the two things I was supposed to for 2009. The first is to go on 52 photowalks (already done one!), and the second is to create and use 15 textures in my photography. Already have 1 created and used.

Lots of updates

8. Be a project lead or tech lead for a major project at work - Just finished a year-long project that I led - The Federated Portal and JEE Upgrade project. It went really well, too.

9. Nominate someone for an Innovation Award - I nominted Ken as part of the FPN project.

16. Go to the dentist twice a year: - just went this week as the second one for 2008

29. Take 3 pictures I believe are worthy of printing up and framing - and then print them and frame them. - I printed a bunch of pictures for Christmas presents, and they look great!

31. Take pictures of an old barn - I did this in Mingo a while ago, I wasn't happy with the pictures, so I didn't cross it off for a while, but it doesn't say take GOOD pictures, so I guess I'm all good.

34. Read 30 books and write reviews in LibraryThing for them - I finished Anne of Windy Poplars, or whatever it's called.

36. Fill at least one Moleskine journal - I don't think this is going to happen, but I AM writing in it a lot more and that DOES make me happy.

39. Participate in NaNoWriMo - even if I don't finish, put forth a real effort. - I didn't just put forth an effort, I actually "won"!

44. Watch 101 movies and keep track of the list - added a bunch more, 2 documentaries and then the Sex and the City movie and Run, Fatboy, Run

52. Finish organizing the office - There's still some stuff in there that we need to give away/sell but it's looking great.

54. Clean out/organize the garage - ok, I didn't actually do this, John did it when I was at work one day as a surprise to me. But it got done, so I figure I can cross it off.

58. Try 30 new recipes - I tried a bunch more that I never wrote about, and now I can't remember what they're called exactly, but I wanted to add them to the list so I'd at least get "credit" for them.

71. Finish rating all my songs in iTunes - I'm crossing this one off because I did the best one could ask for, and now I don't use iTunes anymore, so it doesn't apply, so it's not my fault that it will never get finished.

76. Buy at least one set of fancy, matching bra & panties - I did this a month or so ago from Victoria's Secret.

83. Back up my computer at least once a year - No need anymore! The Drobo does it for me automatically.

92. Buy a good pair of black work shoes - Done. And I love them.

96. Dance with John at least once - we did at Alexis and Scott's Wedding.

(In Progress) 44 - Watch 101 movies and keep track of the list

Walk the Line (on TV).

I also watched some lifetime movie that I forget the name of. I don't think I'll have a problem hitting 101 movies, so I'm not going to worry about it, but should I end up with only 100 movies at the end of the 1001 days, this one I can't remember the name of counts.

(In Progess) - 82 - Make a list of 101 things/people that I'm thankful for

16. Karaoke - I know it sounds funny, but it's nice to have a place to go, where people clap for me, people think I'm good at what I do, and it requires no preparation... and it's FUN.
17. Toothpaste - Can you imagine what our mouths would taste and feel like without it??? Gross.
18. Volunteers - I try to do my part where I can. There are places I donate my money to, and earlier this year I did walk in the Heart Walk, but let's face it, i don't do nearly as much as so many other people do. So many people donate so much of their time to so many worthy causes, and I'm thankful that they do it.
19. Electricity - Having gone without it for 4 days last month, man, I really appreciate it even more.
20. Food - I'm not just thankful that I've never had to live without, I'm also thankful that so much of it tasts SO GOOD!

These are added to the 15 I had so far:

1. My house - it's really a dream for me and every day I pull into the driveway I'm thankful that not only am I financially able to own it, but that I was able to find such a perfect house for me so close to work.
2. My car - not only am I thankful for something that gets me where I need to go, it's a freakin' cool car. It's technologically awesome and helping save the world, right?
3. John - It's hard to put into words how awesome it is to come home from work and hear the *clomp*clomp*clomp* of feet running up the basement stairs, the door bursting open, the smile, the yell of "Iffles!" and the run to hug me. Best thing ever.
4. My job - ok, having a job can be quite a pain sometimes, but I'm thankful it's here, I'm glad I like the people I work with, and I'm happy that I get the respect that I do. I also enjoy my paycheck.
5. Music - could I make it through a day without listening to music? I don't think I want to know the answer to that.
6. My family - they're always there for me when I need them - with words, driving out when I was suddenly hospitalized, giving me money to help me out when I need it, etc.
7. Glasses/contacts - as strange as it sounds, I often think about how thankful I am for this technology. With a presecription as strong as mine, I'd sure be dead or rendered useless if I couldn't have some sort of corrective lenses.
8. Indoor plumbing - ok, that might be a gross one, but. Seriously. Can you imagine if we didn't have it? I'm quite thankful.
9. Myles and Maia - neither one are Kaylee, who I still think about often and miss quite a bit, and sure, Maia gets on my nerves a lot, but I can't imagine watching TV or reading a book without one of them curled up next to or on top of me.
10. The Basement - Not only am I thankful just to have one, I'm thankful that ours contains an entire warehouse of video game systems, parts and repair equipment. Plus one previously-mentioned man that knows how to use it all. I'm not a huge video game nerd, but it's certainly nice to know that most problems I have can be fixed by yelling "John? Help!" down the basement stairs.
11. My camera - I don't think I've ever had a hobby that was something that I really wanted to do. It's not that I haven't enjoyed things I've done in the past, it's just that I've never been "oooh, I really wanna do that." before. I'm learning on my own, and enjoying it on my own. It's fantastic.
12. My deck - I think I already mentioned my house, but my deck is just an extra bonus. A LARGE extra bonus. :)
13. AT&T U-Verse - It's so much better than Time Warner Cable - in both the number of options they provide for the price and in the availability.
14. RSS Feeds - How else would I keep up with news and entertainment? It's fantastic to get all the information I could need and want all in one place!
15. A college education - I certainly wouldn't be where I am now without my Bachelor's Degree. And while I don't necessarily need my Master's Degree, I'm still glad I actually have it.

2 new karaoke songs!

Last night I sang:

My Own Worst Enemy - Lit
Before He Cheats - Carrie Underwood

Before I forget...

...yeah, I desperately need to update this thing. I know I need to catch up on the books I've read (I think I've read at least three since last posting that, but that's easy to trace, so I'm not worried about remembering), and I know I'm forgetting some movies, but here's some:

The Wedding Date - Horrible. I mean, I knew it was going to be BAD, obviously, but HORRIBLE, I wasn't expecting. the only reason I finished watching it was so that I could add it to this list.

Burn After Reading - Funny, I liked it more than John did.

When Andrew Came Home - A lifetime movie. Nuff said.

General Update

11. Get into work by 8:00 for an entire week - Done! Forgot this was on the list, I've been doing this for a number of weeks now.

12. Take at least one day off a year where I sit at home and do nothing productive - Done! Took July 3rd off, thinking we might do something, but didn't, it was great.

25. Throw a party - Done! (John's birthday)

53. Turn the guest room into an actual Guest Room instead of a storage room with a bed - This has been done for a while, but I think I was waiting to cross it off the list for some reason. I don't know what that reason was now, so... crossed off, it is.

55. powerwash/stain/protect the deck - Done!

57. Keep up with the landscaping each year (trim bushes, weed, cut grass, etc.) - I can't cross this off yet for this year, as it's not over yet, but I think I've done really well. It's not perfect yet, but I don't expect it to be, the lawn has been mowed appropriately, and I've been trimming bushes and weeding, I'm just GOOD at it, so I miss a lot of weeds and don't trim very well. I think if I improve just a little each year, I'll be happy.

73. Donate hair to Locks of Love again - Done!

80. Buy & use cloth grocery bags - Done! I actually did this a while ago, I completely forgot it was on the list, though!

83. Back up my computer at least once a year - I did this as well as I could for 2008, I ran out of external hard drive. I need a drobo before next year!

94. Make a batch of wine with John each year - We've made two batches so far this year, though neither are for us, I figure it still counts.

Total completed: 19
Total in progress: 25
